Collective Connection with Kurt Jones

Originally from Massachusetts, Kurt has operated cameras on over 200 episodes of television, multiple films, and dozens of music videos. He began his professional life as a photojournalist for newspapers and magazines, where he won multiple Photography awards. He later transitioned to the film industry, starting off as a camera assistant in Boston, then moving to Los Angeles, where he quickly moved up to the Operator position and specialized in Steadicam.

On the FX show Wilfred, starring Elijah Wood, he was promoted to full time Cinematographer, and was nominated for an ASC Award for Outstanding Achievement in Cinematography in 2018 for his work on the CW series The Originals. He also shot a series called The Unsettling which is streaming on HULU and photographed Br0k3n, a short film produced in Honolulu, which was also his Directorial debut.

Kurt recently wrapped his 3rd season as Cinematographer of Hawaii Five-0, having shot more episodes than any other DP on the show. He is currently shooting a feature film, one of the first projects approved by SAG-AFTRA since the COVID pandemic began.
